What if I am going to be “out of town” and miss a pickup?
If you can give us at least a full week of notice for the pickup day you will miss, we can hold that share for you until the end of the CSA. You will be able to pickup a share of tasty fall produce the following week after the Summer CSA closes. *(delivery for $15 surcharge). We can only do this once per membership, so we encourage members to have a family member, friend or neighbour pickup subsequent shares, what a great gift! *(delivery to non-members location must be within delivery zone for $15 surcharge).
If you ever encounter the joy of a flat tire, forced overtime at work, or just plumb forget and miss pickup time, contact us as soon as you can. We will remove your share from the pickup area and plan for you to pickup the next day
Can I purchase a smaller portioned share?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer optional share sizes, mostly to keep pick-ups streamlined and uncomplicated for poor old Farmer Dan. However, if you think a share is too much for your lifestyle, we do recommend the biweekly share as it gives you an extra week to finish up all those tasty items. For even more flexibility, you can split a full weekly share with a friend, neighbour or family members. You choose how and when to split the share among yourselves.
Can I have substitutions?
We offer a large array of produce throughout the season, but we know everything can’t be your favourite! We ask that you give everything a try or share with a friend or neighbour an item you may not like to eat. If you have an allergy or if there is something that you can’t enjoy or gift to someone, let us know and we will remove it from your share and try to slip something else in its place. Substitutions are subject to what is available and may not be selected by request.
Are your veggies and fruits chemical free?
We use sustainable and regenerative farming practices. We don't use chemical (synthetic) pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides, or fungicides. We don't grow any genetically modified organisms (GMOs). We use compost, cover crops, natural occurring minerals and organic fertilizers to nourish our plants. We limit pest damage by using row covers, rotational planting, and removing some pests by hand. To keep weeds in check we use a combination of mulching, tractor cultivation, and Farmer Dan powered tools like hoes and cultivators.
Do you offer egg shares?
We have a small flock of heritage breed chickens on the farm. They are free ranged and give us a limited number of eggs per week. We offer a dozen eggs for $6 on pickup days at the farm only. We try to accommodate everyone interested but we can’t guarantee the girls output, they take vacations too! First come first serve.
